What this covers
This explains what Footerico (“the Service,” “we”) collects when you visit footeri.co, use the Icon Picker, call the icon API, or embed a Footerico icon URL somewhere else. There's no account, login, or payment on the Service today, so there's no profile of you to build here, mostly this is about server logs and analytics.
Data you give us directly
If you email contact@footeri.co (or use a GitHub issue/discussion link in the footer), we get your email address or GitHub identity and whatever you write to us. We use it only to reply and to act on bug reports, icon requests, or takedown notices.
Data collected automatically
When you visit a page on footeri.co (home, Icon Picker, About, API docs, Guides), we log the timestamp, your IP address, your browser's user agent, and which page you loaded.
When an icon PNG is requested from api.footeri.co, we log the timestamp, the requester's IP address, user agent, the referring page (if sent), and which icon file and style were requested.
This second point matters beyond footeri.co itself: if you embed a Footerico icon URL in your own website, app, or email, and someone else opens that page or email, we log that visitor's request, their IP, user agent, and referrer, against the icon file that loaded. We don't know who they are beyond that request, and we exclude requests that come from our own site so we're not double-counting our own traffic.
We use these logs to operate the Service (spotting abuse, rate-limiting, debugging) and to understand usage (which brands and styles are actually requested). We don't sell this data or use it for advertising.
Analytics
Our web pages (not the icon API itself) use Google Analytics (GA4) to see how the site is used: page views, approximate location from IP, device and browser type. Google sets cookies (_ga, _gid) to do this. See Google's Privacy Policy and their opt-out browser add-on.
Cookies and local storage
Beyond the Google Analytics cookies above, Footerico itself doesn't set cookies. We do use your browser's localStorage to remember your color theme (light/dark/auto) and your last icon selection in the Icon Picker, so the site feels consistent when you come back. That stays in your browser; we never receive it.
Where this runs
Footerico runs entirely on Cloudflare's infrastructure, including the storage that holds the logs described above. Because Cloudflare operates the network and servers behind footeri.co and api.footeri.co, your traffic is also subject to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy as the company running that infrastructure, in addition to this one.
Third-party links
The site links to GitHub (icon requests, bug reports, source) and Buy Me a Coffee (optional support). If you use those, you're on their site under their own privacy policy, we don't receive anything from that interaction unless you separately email us.
How long we keep it
We keep the logs described above for 90 days, then delete them.
Your choices
You can ask us what we've logged tied to a given IP or email, and ask us to delete it, by writing to contact@footeri.co. You can block Google Analytics with a browser extension or the opt-out linked above. If you'd rather your site's visitors weren't logged by the icon API at all, host the icons yourself instead of using the live API URL.
Children's privacy
Footerico isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
